Cable Shields
High voltage power cables with solid insulation are shielded to protect the cable insulation as well as people and equipment.
Shielded electrical cables have one or more insulated conductors, enclosed by a common conductive layer.
It may be composed of braided strands of copper, or other metal, a spiral winding of copper tape, or a layer of conducting polymer.
This shield is often covered in order to reduce electrical noise from affecting the signals, and reduce electromagnetic radiation that may interfere with other devices.
It minimises capacitively coupled noise from other electrical sources and may act as the return path for the signal or as screening only.
uki offers a broad range of materials for cable shields.
Materials available:
- Polyester Films
- Aluminum polyester laminates
